FAQ's

Q: Is a rental car necessary if so much is within walking distance of the Casa Madrona Hotel and Inn Above Tide?

A: We have found that most guests enjoy the freedom of having a car at their disposal for sightseeing and to travel to and from the office and hospital. Though Dr. Wolf makes daily rounds on his patients at the Casa Madrona Hotel and the Inn Above Tide, an occasional office visit may be necessary. San Francisco, Napa, the Muir Woods, and Stinson Beach are readily accessible by car.

Q: What should I pack or expect to wear during my visit?

A: The Bay Area is known for its amazing weather, and Marin County is no exception. Northern California's dress is extremely casual in most venues. Only the most upscale restaurants in San Francisco and Napa require a coat and tie or cocktail attire. The morning might be brisk and lead into a balmy afternoon with a cool evening to follow. You should therefore be prepared to layer. Bring something that fastens in front to wear when discharged from the hospital.

Q: What should I make sure to have before I leave for my trip?

A: Please be certain to bring the following:

  • Your Town Car reservation number. After you give us your travel itinerary we will make a reservation with the agency that transports our patients to and from the airport. Drivers are given your flight information so that if a delay occurs, they are prepared to meet you at your updated arrival time.

  • Your hotel confirmation number. If you choose to stay at the Casa Madrona Hotel or the Inn Above Tide, we will be pleased to make this reservation for you. Our doing so will guarantee the corporate rate that is extended to us. You are encouraged to contact the Casa Madrona Hotel or the Inn Above Tide directly with special requests or needs. If you choose to stay at a different hotel, we ask that you make your own reservations.

  • Your prescriptions. After you choose your surgery date, we will mail you another package of information to prepare you for your visit. This will include prescriptions for your post-surgical recovery. You may fill your prescriptions here, but might find it easier to do so at home before you leave for California. In addition to your prescription medications, please bring a bottle of Extra- Strength Tylenol. Many patients find Tylenol alone sufficient for post-surgical pain management.

Q: Does the Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa or The Inn Above Tide have room service?

A: The Casa Madrona Hotel offers in-room dining from their restaurant, Poggio, for a small fee. Although The Inn Above Tide does not have a restaurant on site, they do offer a substantial and complimentary continental breakfast, as well as a lovely wine and cheese reception every evening. There are also many cafes, coffeehouses, and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Room Service of Marin also offers menus from 20 local restaurants at a nominal charge for delivery.

Q: Will I need to bring someone with me during my stay?

A: You do not need to bring somebody with you to assist in your care. Our patients have consistently told us, however, that an accompanying friend, relative, or companion adds immeasurably to the enjoyment of the Bay Area experience.

Q: How do I book a surgery date with your office?

A: If you have a specific surgery date in mind, you should call our office and discuss it with us at your earliest convenience. Please bear in mind that holiday schedules tend to be busy.

Q: Is a deposit required to schedule my surgery?

A: A deposit is requested to secure a date on Dr. Wolf's surgical schedule.
